beautiful space with different levels and just a few stairs used to be a fabric factory. a cyder fuit punch with cinnamon, a lot of art in the walls and hanging from the wooden ceiling, a huge terrace with Manhattan views and snow and Björk and some other people. she sat on the other side of the table and was wearing a red sweater, how appropiate for Christmas.

I invited her to dance while the guys were talking about fake wifes. that night ended too soon. she went back to the Big Apple walking the Williamsburg Bridge with her dog and left me a note

I thought Blue Valentine was a great movie and both actors (Michelle Williams too) were amazing. Crazy Stupid Love was okay too and it was also easy falling for him there..

I have yet to see The Notebook, and I haven't seen Drive either, but I intend to do so in the near future

and I don't even find Ryan Gosling that handsome, but he sure has a really strong presence in real life

I was hiking up in Maui and landscape changed from waterfalls and its pools and rocks and dirt to an amazing bamboo forest. just like that I was placed in an alternate universe of darkness and green tall thin frayed motherfuckas. one after the other creating a curtain between me and the rest of the island and the world.

Clinton Friedman is a nature-conscious photographer. He replanted these lost African beauties in his garden and once they were secure and healthy he took them off for the shoot and replanted them after. but don't these look like watercolors? how can these beauties exist and we humans be okay with not moving from our comfort zone/home/city/hotel? people, start moving. plus I think earth is trying to tell us something. or at least she is getting ready for big things to happen. these are all aloes and other medicinal plants for your own sake

the south-west US road trip brought us to Taos, a little town in New Mexico with an adjacent ancient village called Pueblo made out of adobe. after the touristy visit, we went to the random gipsy luna-moving-park. getho as it gets, people watching was like a risque sport..at daylight tho, Taos is great and the bridge to leave the city even more. looking out to a Canyon and little artisanal fair full of navajo leather goods and jewelry. at the other side of the bridge, amazing hippie underground houses full of glass windows and made out of recycled plastics and I am sure other thingys. once in Marfa, after the much coveted Prada Marfa, we went play some pool and have a hot dog at Padre's. I won after two Bloody Hell Marys with the best olives I've ever had in a cocktail. we had a bed in a vintage trailer, and got there just at sunset. perfect timming. El Cósmico is not your conventional hotel. refurbished trailers, teepees, yurps and more than enough space for campgrounds. you can have your backpacking experience with every shared amenity, or you can also rent a trailer like we did, with all the private amenities you may need/want. oh how much I love having my morning showers outside. not even kidding. some of the trailers even have a little private patio with the sickest chairs. it was heaven and I would've stayed there all summer. the deco inside was simple and modern, just like I like it. and a great little kitchen with the best teapot! and the lobby (the only building around) a little more tex-mix, with all the horns and paws and some Acapulco chairs and these graphic-genious posters of the Festival of Music and Love they held. it felt like I was in a boat

if you go, make sure to take one of their business cards, or some. such beautiful snaps

El Cósmico is a reflection of how cool the town is. all about artists and yoga in the Texas village. Too cool for school

and I almost forget about the Mistery Lights, apparently some serious outer-space lights showing at night. they say it's worth the wait, but I did have enough shooting stars and desires, plus it was getting cold, I mean cool

Hailee Steinfeld. she's a real beauty and a great actress. I loved her work in True Grit. she shared screen with amazing Matt Damon and all time fave and icon Jeff Bridges and yet, in her first feature, she manages to outshine above everyone else in the cast and bring to the big screen a real big deal of woman. Miucca never fails in her choices and we all are extremely happy to see this teenage girl as the image of Miu Miu for next Fall. and the glitter, oh the glitter!
the preview was a good start, but these pictures are much better than anticipated. first 2 are my favorites.

Prada Marfa

Marfa is probably too cool for you. a little arty town west Texas filled with hipsters, yoga and stars. but that's another story and I have some photos of the place for next week or maybe sooner
now, just when you're about to hit Marfa, but still on the road in the middle of nowhere, the Prada store shows. this is a "pop arquitectural land art project" by duo of Northern European artists Elmgreen and Dragset built back in 2005. Miucca Prada donated some fall/winter 05 handbags and shoes for the sculpture along with the logo of the brand. Originally, the artists wanted to keep the building with no reparations so it could eventually age and fade to the environment, but after it was inaugurated some vandals broke in and stole some goodies. people weren't definitely from Marfa, but people who can't understand how great it is contemporary art for free. but the morons wrote the word dumb on the walls and took off proud of themselves...(there were only right feet shoes and they stole 14 of them poor things, who knows, maybe they were mutants with a pair of right feet). that's why the handbags have no bottoms and an alarm device now. however there are still seed leftovers inside on the carpet, so who knows who makes it in and what they do in there
after Whitesands this was another fasho stop, and worth it. I've been wanting to see this little thingy life for quite a long time now and it was beautiful and fulfilling, despite the graffitis around

I discovered her last year thanks to my friend Cris, who attended the presentation in London and sent me some snaps of the place. it was like an appartment, with the models placed around kind of static. I loved the concept and enjoyed a lot the snaps. Cris is a neat photographer, so that helped for sure too

now Orla Kiely is presenting her ready-to-wear a/w 2011 collection in a short film with awkwardly dancing models dressed like 60's dolls. a little bit of Hitchcock here, and a little bit of the Dogtooth dance there, and voilà! plus beautiful Hannah is acting here!

Whitesands in New Mexico was one of the few mandatory stops in the road trip. and oh if it was worth it..this big spot in the middle of the road is what it seams, neverending white dunes, although from the distance it all looked like snow! and nothing was better than getting there at sunset. we got pretty excited and ran to the horizon where the sun was setting. it got a little dark on us and it took more than planned to find the car. but thanks to my orientation skills -that in the day decided to awake-, we made it safe and soaked in pretty white sand. boots were such a good idea

I will try NOT to spoil the movie for anyone and I won't say what it is about, not because I don't know how to begin...what I will say is that everything is exciting about it. actors are amazing, even and especially the kids, the costumes are perfect and the photography beyond beautiful. I keep asking myself how a person can direct such a great piece of art. how, Malick?

on another note, I have a soft spot for Brad Pitt, not only because he is a gorgeous man but also because he is a huge talented actor who always gives himself completely to the part he plays. this time I wasn't familiar with his co-star Jessica Chastain, but she nailed it and I am now officially a fan of the 30 year-old too. pretty, soft and bold persona.
